Ernest Joseph Codelia Jr., Esq., (and for many was known as "Ernie") was born in New York City. He attended All Hallows Elementary and High School, Bronx, New York; City College of New York (as a civil engineer); and Brooklyn Law School (Juris Doctor) . Ernest was admitted to the Appellate Division, First Department in 1956. In the 1970s', Ernest started as a solo practitioner in the Bronx, and in 1984 incorporated his firm, Ernest Codelia, P.C. which many years later became known as "Codelia & Socorro, P.C."
Ernie maintained the same location for the law office as he believed in serving the Bronx community, which he did for almost 40 years. He truly loved the diversity of the community and was known for his dedication to the firm's clientele. Many voiced that his passing was "a great loss to the legal community" as his commitment and motivation was reflective in his work.
Ernie led the legal team at his office, Myrna Socorro, Esq., Peter Shipman, Esq., Jeannette Ortiz-Hausmann, Esq. as well as the support staff that is relied on for their dedication and hardwork to the clientele. His spirit, drive and dedication will remain as his legacy for those he led and worked with at Codelia & Socorro, P.C., and for the clients he served in a tireless effort.
